The fact that like half of the riders didn’t even bother to have a videographer come out to shoot their runs and just filmed it with an iPhone is a big indication of the poor state of competitive wakeboarding.

This isn’t a best video contest. The rules given to the riders only request a straight unedited run, the rider must be in frame at all times and not to include any music in the video submission. Rules also stated if the video wasn’t clear or zoomed in enough to make a fair judgement on grabs or tricks they wouldn’t be judged further than the they could see. So if the judge couldn’t tell if the rider got a solid grab on a trick or just slapped the board with an open palm it won’t be counted as a grab. I couldn’t tell you about the rest of the locations, but Florida has had horrible weather for the last week due to the tropical storm that just passed on Sunday and the majority of the riders all filmed their passes here. Video guys and photographers are not on standby to shoot something they are not getting paid for. You want to help your friends but sometimes it doesn’t work out so the riders did what they had to. I’m pretty stoked we get to see any contest riding this season.

Bit unfair how voting is fan based not skill based

    • Alliance Reply

It’s 25% of the voting process. The other 75% is judged by professional PWT judges.
